Re: Book of five rings by miyamoto misashi - anyone read it?

Aye, interesting read, but not something you can just read cover to cover, at least not just the once. It needs to be practised, meditated on, or at least reread a few times if you're to understand the bulk of it.

A balisong? I didn't know a blade could be modified to prevent sharpening. It's probably more hassle than it's worth to convince the law :/

Apologies if this isn't strictly relevant but have you had any issues with curved blades that aren't katana?

Re: i thought this place had dissapeared?

I do on occasion. Didn't expect it to be this quiet though :s Why'd it dry up so much? Swords are still legal. Is it recession related? I bought me a couple of broadswords only today, no excuse :p Ah well

Hiya Chris. Stopped using MSN have ye?

Re: Anybody used one of these punchbag things?

Never got round to replying :$ Expend energy faster to calm down, sometimes you just gotta beat the crap out of something till you can't anymore, yknow? :) Danny you'll be happy to know no doubt that it's being put to use now, it's finally out the back garden on the patio, and gets a solid pounding ...

Re: Adam Hsu Corn Leaf Sabre

Ah, ze Miaodao. Handle looks a bit cheap, but it's comfortable, fits lovelyly snug in the scabbard, amazing light, sadly blunt though. I bought mine through BUK who ordered one in for me, but I bought a few other swords at the same time (including the beautiful oxtail dao, if you're into dao in gene...

Re: Anybody used one of these punchbag things?

Yeah I did, don't remember why though lol. Think it was just my way of making sure you noticed my comment rather than having it just disappear among the others ;; I use the wall bag for technique and the wavemaster for stress relief where I can throw wider punches and kicks and expend my energy fast...

Re: Anyone done Wing chun?

Coming up to six months now, and still loving it :) Had a spar with a friend a couple of weeks ago, he's nearly a black belt in tae kwon do, I've done six months in wing chun and just over a year in ninjutsu (compared to his three and a half years TKD and five years ninjutsu) and it was reasonably a...

Re: Anybody used one of these punchbag things?

Hehe who'd have thought.. I was commenting on those videos when I began wing chun, I'm the one calling you sissyboy ;) Got popcorn kernels and dried beans in there now, it's almost solid. I was told I should have it to feel like someone's chest, mine was more like someone's gut. Never have to shake ...

Re: Nunchuka Promotion

Yeah, I know that, it's like any other physical act, watching it done can only give you a vague idea at best how it's supposed to be lol. (Watched wing chun demos for years before I found a class and got a rude awakening lol) But it always helps if you can see something done in slow motion with an e...

Re: Nunchuka Promotion

sadly if there is chuks in the mainstream, like in the 70's when bruce was the man in enter the dragon, people may abuse them. They've gotta be fighting something, if not swords or chucks it'll be something else. I say enjoy it, be safe, have fun (and be responsible - that means not giving them to ...

Anyone done Wing chun?

How did you find it? Good and bad points, class atmosphere, etc. There's a class down the road from me but the annual membership costs something like £30, I wanna make sure it doesn't suck before I join :p

I think maybe we all are still hoping somehow he's just forgotten or something, and by seeing this is still active with all the baiting, he'll post pics.

That, and people LOVE to have something to b*tch about :D I'm no exception, I know lol.
