Re: Delivery Info.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Firstly, this board is huge and a good few years old and so has many, many topics. This includes sending items overseas, including Ireland. Use of the Search box on the top right of this forum is therefore incredibly handy; indeed - I've found two topics immediately r...

Re: Katana

Well I'm all up for a bit of chat but when I see posts such as that, one has to question; what's going on here? And it was a sincere post, I'm just suspicious of ones background and experience, surely I can question this? Besides, it'd be wrong not to - to allow that kind of discussion be unquestion...

Re: How do i actually USE this thing??!

Despite this topic being a few months old or so, a proper reply is needed as the ones given to the original question were, quite frankly, poor. The original poster asked for "fully sword based martial arts" regarding how to use a bokken he or she had recently purchased (and perhaps future ...

Re: My New Katana

Well my first post since I've returned, and figured I'd pick something good to get my teeth into..I noticed this: I`m going now to train IaIdo with my new blade see you all later. Which Ryu are you studying and what grading have you attained? And then this: I attained shodan before my motorcycle acc...

Re: MY Blades uk order Review

A solid review bud; I would've liked some clearer pics (but then I do know how difficult it can be..mine are always blurry and naff :D ) and perhaps comparisons to more swords, though I don't think you have any high end Chen's, am I right? The blades on both of them look decent, and worth the money;...

Re: Book of five rings by miyamoto misashi - anyone read it?

It's true; 'tis hidden in riddles..I guess he could be coming from another point of view such as "How do you define 'defeated'?"..because he was still alive, and seemingly unscathed, perhaps that's what he means? lol. It is too far back in time to tell, and as you say, there's plenty of so...

That's controversial for a start, considering he covers the topic of 'truth', clearly stating that truth isn't what you make it..it is what it is, and you must pursue it.

Hm I quite fancy another read now :D

Re: Orchid Kat Photos

The only things I like about the Orchid is the blade and that tidy Tsuba..the rest of it is just too girly I think (even the Tsuba is close, lol).

Re: a small idea :D

...The bottom line is that HMRC will now seize any samurai sword coming into the UK using the handmade defence that isn't clay forged, which essentially has destroyed the under £130 market overnight. Ahhh I see. Thanks for the informed post, though it does explain the 'cheap Kat' situation; it's st...

Re: Iaido Sueyoshi Akeshi anyone got the Dvd?

Yeah I do MJER, simply for the fact it's the only one taught here; but I must say I enjoy it and that my Sensei shows me the differences that show up with the different Ryu's sometimes..to me MJER makes the most sense..it seems to be the middle ground. As for Iaido itself; I love it. I'm a big gym g...

Re: Iaido Sueyoshi Akeshi anyone got the Dvd?

thanks for the info moon!! the days the place is open (tue, sat) will fit inbetween the days i do at sheff. much appreciated bigwetkiss Although I agree with you that 2 days isn't enough and you'll always feel the need to practice; I'd be very careful with this considering MSR and MJER have differen...

Considering it's based on strategy as a whole; it's not a necessity BUT because it was forged from 'the fires of combat' if you will; it certainly helps you gain an understanding, yeah I'd say so.

Re: Book of five rings by miyamoto misashi - anyone read it?

I've got it, and read it a few times now..I got the 'D.E. Tarver' one and found it to be one of the better versions out there. As for Musashi himself..he certainly explains some interesting points and gives good guidance, but a fair bit of it is his own path, his 'Way', but I do like the way he leav...
