Re: New Consultation to ban all swords

God bless you Mick. We were literally together in spirits (Dalwhinnie in my case!) I'm so very sorry - but Dalwhinnie tastes like cat wee. If anyones interested in preventing the addition of straight blades swords to the list of banned items please join the AKCT (http://www.akct.org) It's time we u...

Re: New Consultation to ban all swords

If we dont start getting collectively organised and make a unified voice against this, its over for swords, then its over for shooting sports and Fencing, and javellin throwing until we are down to being a disarmed Nation of culturally and historically disenfranchised sheep who couldn't be trusted ...

Re: New Consultation to ban all swords

OK chaps - Just thought I'd have another chat with the Home Office Looks like discussions are underway to widen the ban to cover ALL swords by October. Same exemptions for martial artists / re-enactors etc will apply. There will be NO consultation - this will be decided 'behind closed doors' There m...

In a classic case of 'you either laugh of cry' have a look at the 'enlightened' debate about this in from the House of Lords yesterday:

You couldn't make it up.

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

just out of interest, i wrote a letter to my local MP regarding the sword ban and didn't receive any useful reply You will never get taken seriously by your MP if you accept the first response as absolute. The fob-off is a tried and tested system to weed out those who just want a whinge and those w...

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

Too little too late dude. Saying that even if every sword owner in the country joined forces the Government still wouldn't have give a sh*t. Best of British luck to you though in your endeavours sir. Too late to formulate a combined opposition to the sword ban BUT don;t kid yourself it's going to e...

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

Just a quick announcemen -

As our voices will be easilly ignored until we pool our resources, combine our forces and are able to present a cohesive and representative front.

I am hoping with the help of the knife and sword community that this can be the place.

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

...tho last thing i heard about this ban was that it was curved blades with only one sharp edge that would be banned. thus meaning that a chinese tai chi broadsword would not be banned Thats partially right - it is only curved swords involved but the presence of a sharpened edge is not specified so...

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

Thanks. I'm not kidding myself and I know the kind of battle we have ahead, but I;ll never be able to pick up my Katana again with a clear concience if I didn;t try.

When I'm up and running I'll let you know.

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

This is part of the reason I am involved in a new organisation designed to combine the voices of the industry at large as well as the collectors / makers. Only through pooling resourses, combining voices and organising can anything be done. A lone voice can be ignored - the voice of an entire indust...

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

:S We ain't gonna win this one folks  Certainly won't if we don't try? There is every chance this can be scuppered - There is no provision for cultural / religious use, so what will happen when the sikh community find out? or an Orange order member wants a new sword? The only exemption for ant...

Re: All curved Swords to be banned

Another first poster here. Wish it were under better circumstances. Just need to clarify that this has not been written into law - yet! It is scheduled to go before the house for debate on the 17th March so we have until then to write to your respective MP's and point out the obvious flaws and unwor...
