Re: Site Upgrades

sounds intresting. maybe improve the search system with item types to make it easier to search for diffrent types of swords/knives. or maybe adding something like displaying simalar items. one example is where I was just searching the site for chinese swords. if I hadn't searched both Jian and tai c...

Re: Question on Display Swords and Dagger Covers...

it largly depends on the display sword. as they tend to vary from one manufacture to the next. for example I have a display katana on my livingroom wall which athough blunt and unbalanced is still sturdy enough for swininging around practicing katas or sword disarms. (though I wouldn't advise the la...

Re: Does 'fa jing' or chi really exist?

true it's not what a lot of people make it out to be someone who weighs all of 10 stone soaking wet is going to hit a lot lighter than someone who has 20lb of muscle to work with. but it's not the physics defying thing that the media and some people make it out to be, it won't make you flick a guy a...

Re: Does 'fa jing' or chi really exist?

one of the martial arts I practice is ki aikido, I can't really tell you if ki/chi is a supernatural power or just a mind set but there is definatly something there and when you have a 7ft tall 230lb+ guy running at you only to go flying on his butt from an out stretched and relaxed arm (and you're ...

Re: Wobbly tsuba fix (with dental floss)

welcome to the macgyver school of sword repair, all you need is dental floss, a paper clip, a stick of gum, some duct tape and a multi tool and you can repair even the most damaged swords... or even nuclear reactors in no time.

Re: Another Autumn bamboo

tell me about it. I just cleaned mine earlier today after last time I used it (why is it when you tell people not to touch the blade the first they do it touch the blade) but after cleaning the old oil off and applying a fresh coat all I can say is wow

Re: correct grip, of a sword

the 'correct' grip depends on the Koryu of Iaido/Iaijutsu/Kenjutsu and not the personal preference of the Iaidoka...if you're doing it wrong and are allowed to continue to do so, you're not being instructed at all, unless you're a member of one of the many 'MacDojo' outfits. true, I've trained with...

Re: Another Autumn bamboo

that's an understatement. I've litterally had people drooling over it. I took it to the dojo where I teach/train as my instructor wanted to see it. I made one cut and his jaw dropped from the sound (he's partly deaf and could hear it) I preformed one kata and I sware it sounded as if it was singing....

Re: Another Autumn bamboo

well I ordered my last friday and received it first thing this morning just as I was about to leave the house for work. and I have to admit it's much more beautiful in real life than anything. both my instructor and my students who saw it were practically drooling over it.

Re: A little help sharpening

if you have no experience with sharpening swords and knives I suggest that you don't and you find someone who does. I've seen many a blade ruined by inexperienced people sharpening them such as using high speed grinding stones resulting in over heating the blade and ruining the temper (nothing worse...

Re: Karambits what you think

very nice. I use them a lot in training. I even took one to an old punch bag that was about to be thrown out, impressed some of the students who never seen one before, and made disposing of the old bag easier lol. I actually used one of my training one's last night demonstrating some filipino stuff ...

Re: Favourites

the one sword I most want for my collection is the katana from the anime blood+ for some reason I just love the design. I've found reproductions of it for next to nothing but they're all from sites in america and I'm sure customs would complain if I did try to import it (and given I don't have trans...
