Broadsword and scabbard

On page 9 of newly added items is a broadsword and scabbard in HCS. This looks very much like LOTR strider sword. I have one of these bought a couple of years ago from another site which will remain nameless (I know how touchy you are with rival sites ha ha) it cost about £80 and is SS not HCS. The ...

Re: My Stuff

I got this the other day, John Barnett two handed mercenary sword. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/71991644/Photo%2014-12-2013%2010%2009%2015.jpg It's huge, 1.53 metres and comes complete with a scabbard. The scabbard is a little pointless as it's very hard to draw because of the size. It came sharp althoug...

Re: what is really best?

Because a real japanese sword made in japan by master sword smiths are ludicrously expensive not to mention export / import hassles. If you are after a really tough steel, then get a sword made of L6 Bainite.

Re: Purchasing first Functional Sword

I had a look at the review - I'm a bit unsure why he gave it 3/5 when all throughout his view he was saying how it surpassed his expectations :/ Well you answered that question yourself...who cares about the score and the drivel about the review. Your topic question was advice on a cutting katana a...

Re: functional?

Hi langy

I've done a few scabbards, here's a lionheart in brown with harness etc. Fairly straight forward to make. I recommend poplar wood and 1mm leather or similar. Like this one, line the inside in cotton, helps stop rattling and keeps the blade dry.

To fold or not to fold

With today's modern clean steels, does folded steel really make a difference to the performance of a blade? From what I have read on SBG, what counts is lamination and differential hardening. Folding is arguably only really necessary for the traditionalists and doesn't add anything to the strength o...

Re: Dangerous Goods WTF

An email will be sent lone wolf and a request for them to refund the £11 postage my wife paid. What bugs me is, the package was well padded with absorbent material and bubble wrapped. Ok the bottle wasn't enclosed in a plastic bag but FFS it was only a 5ml sample. Next will be a ban on envelopes thr...

Dangerous Goods WTF

Today my wife had a parcel returned by Royal Mail with an explanation of why it was opened, some items removed, destroyed and finally the package returned. Seems she sent dangerous goods through the post...nail varnish! Yep a tiny bottle of nail varnish for her mum in Slovakia is considered a risk t...

Re: How to draw a 2H sword from sheath?

Tinker Pearce bastard sword makes a metallic swish when drawn. Over time it may well dull the edge though.
