Re: Weapon for home defence?

Agreed with Mick on this one. If you really need any kind of home defence then a cricket bat is perfect. What would be kinder? A clean swipe, or a battering with a lump of willow? If I was on the receiving end I'd opt for the former. Which begs a question... where do you keep your blades? When the ...

Re: Knives i 'v made

Fantastic looking blades. I'd be intrigued to see some pics of your forge. Something I'd like to put together if it can be done in a modern, feasible way.

Re: Photos Of Kill Bill Sword as promised

what iam going to do is use a little RENAISSANCE WAX POLISH when it arrives, i had thought about getting some brass corners but i think it would be a step to far lolol Looks good. Put a nice thick coat of buffed wax on it to flatten out the grain and it'll look the dogs danglers. Why not get a nice...

Re: Try tying one of these when the sageo is...

Just a word here. You should invest in a awl (looks like a icepick) to line up tsuka with katana ana (hole) or use chopsticks to line them up. (awl works better) You shouldn't have routed the hole out bigger, if later you get a rattle in your tsuka, you will now know why. Also since you didn't ment...

Re: choice of swords

Dates vary according to which source you look to, but the first curved blades were probably made in the Nara region the the middle of the ei...

Re: Try tying one of these when the sageo is...

You can't expect too much from the lower end chens, and raptors are the "very" economy range lol, second only to the practical katana with plastic samè and can't be disassembled. They're primarily focused towards tameshigiri so they're built to be wrecked. Either way, I do like the new lo...

Re: Try tying one of these when the sageo is...

Well I wouldn't recommend trying it out on your raptor, start on something cheaper What an eye opener this was Geordie. I couldn't get the blade to separate from the tsuka using the traditional 'slap on the wrist' method, I had to literally prise them apart. Before I could even consider the next st...
