Re: Another boring question about legislation...

I agree totally, that's absolutely insane. But our government is hardly going to get things like this right. I was under the assumption that only steel blades came under the ban. Thankyou for the info though, very informative.

Re: New boy

Yup, that translation WAS poor haha! I guess in a nutshell the main things to take from it are that you should always be prepared and that giving a good impression is important. There's also another saying that a samurai always keeps his sword sharp, even in times of peace. This saying is a little ...

Re: New boy

It's veryyyyy old Japanese, it says "Bushi wa kuwanedo taka youji" which means "a samurai uses his toothpick, even when he has not eaten". It'd take a while to fully explain though ;) This translation is poor but people should get the general idea...hopefully. Yup, that translation WAS poor haha! I...

Re: New boy

Its more of a placebo effect rather than any actual power, the more you are open to it the more it will effect you, its like hypnosis, you expect it to happen so you make it happen, either consciously or unconsciously. As for the YouTube clips, most chi demos are cheap magic tricks and exploitation...

Another boring question about legislation...

I'm a bit confused trying to keep up with all this but bear with me. So in 2008 curved blades over 50cm were banned unless owned by antique dealers or BKA members. Then in 2010(?) they decided to lift the ban on blades constructed traditionally (vague). My question is where do Iaitos fall in either ...

Re: New boy

No such thing as chi lol Good on you for not being sucked in mate. The idea of chi has been so overblown by the west that it's turned it into some kind of magic, which it isn't. People also think that Taijiquan (tai chi) is some supernatural way of harnessing it. Tai chi is just a way of meditating...

Re: Is This Real?

Yea its real, it's just physics really, the bullet is really hot and is a much softer metal than the katana. It makes for a pretty spectacular slow mo! Lol have a look for "superhuman samurai" he sliced a tiny bb bullet in two from a sheathed position! :GGG That's Machii Isao, the guy is unbelievab...

Re: New boy

Hi there - 20 years in wushu? Would love to see some vids of you in action! After that many years you must be pretty damn epic? Unfortunately an injury ended my time on the competitive circuit but I still teach when I can and demo here and there. My time was mostly with traditional wushu (five ance...

Re: New boy

Alas, no real collection to speak of any more. I obviously have a few chinese blades but nothing very interesting, all competition swords. I used to own a few nihonto - An antique shinken which I was trying to restore, a customised Imperial Forge folded shinken and a Jidai custom iaito which is the ...
