please feel free to do a dance whilst juggling your 100's of samurai books. If it turns out some of what i say is correct, then by all means go burn your bloody books . 8) Funny! you should say that, (or not, rather) I lost virtually all of my books in a fire at my parents house 10 years ago. Old h...

Grading in various martial arts

Just wondered what your experiences are of gradings. Good or bad. And the etiquette and principles surrounding them. Last weekend i received my shodan (1st dan) in kendo. I trained for 4 years in kick/thai boxing 3 years of them was 5 nights a week and the last year of that was mainly teaching. It is an extremely intensive workout, by far the hardest i've done. I'd recommend it to anyone. As for boxing, i do think its good in the street, but there are variables to co...

Taken from this page.. http://swordforum.com/swords/nihonto/wakizashi.html " but was also the sword of merchants and artisans who were forbidden by edict from wearing a katana ". first of, karate is absolutly NOT a standing art, peopel who stand in karate get sweeped quickly, as are people who dance around like soemthing out of hollywood. I think your definition of 'standing' differs to most then. The nearest styles of karate that i know of that undertake groundwork are goj...

How in the blue hell did i miss all of this? DarkPhoton...with respect......lighten up, wisen up, grow up. You're still relatively new to these boards and considering some of the experience and knowledge of some of the folk on these boards your arrogance is held in contempt. If i was to rant on like...

ON TOPIC: I studied togakure ninjitsu, which Dr Masaaki Hatsumi is the 34th Grandmaster of, and i've been taught by some seniors who studied under him and Shidoshi Brian Hayes. There is a lot of public facing b*llsh!t involved in ninjitsu, but a lot is extremely brutal and effective. You can't show ...
