Kaeru katana

Postby Moon » Wed Aug 01, 2012 9:02 pm

Not really worth starting a new thread I suppose because it's out of stock at CAS Iberia but it's a tad different to the normal high end Hanwei with a tighter hada and without their bog standard Notare hamon.
The link doesn't do it any justice at all but there is a great review online which is easy to find. ;)

It's pricey but Ross will want one I expect. :D

Been keeping an eye on this for a while now, awfully tempted, if Loz did get some in i think i'd have to get one also.

Right now as it stands, my flagship peices are the Elite Tiger & Limited Edition Momo- both are fantastic - and are on my "things to grab if there is a fire" list - Especially the tiger.

Would the Kaeru live up to the tiger?

In Aesthetics i'd say the Kaeru would take the lead (especially as they've kept the folding subtle - tired of seeing kats that try looking like damascusesque monstrosities & I am a sucker for a bo-hi), but the tiger just has something about it that i can’t quite put my finger on - gives it an edge - might have something to do with it's 41" length - i dunno - i'll really need to get my hands on the Kaeru to decide.

Damn you mick, ill get you back :-x i had my hopes up for it as i litterally cant find one for sale on earth!
I'm not sure how they would compare but the kaeru looks serious, very impressive from the reviews, only problem is it looks rather BOLD so to speak, the tiger elite is alot more, elegant and conserved so to speak and the momo is cracking! But I am determined to get that kaeru now, thanks moon you've give me the katana big again

Nah, that Tiger was done by a pro' in the USA and I don't have it now  I sold it before the first ban came into force when it would have been illegal to offer it for sale and then the prats changed the law.

Depends whose house it is.

There are some US retailers who are listing them at $1700 but whether they have them in stock is anybody's guess.

Ahh that's got to feel like a punch in the bollox lol those tigers are expensive too, and it depends what house your favourite kats are in lol nd that's like £1k + shipping? I'd rather save and get the paper crane for that price lol

Aye, around £1100 plus shipping, VAT, Duty and handling charge = approx. £1450 minimum and no customer service...just imagine the aggro if the sword wasn't up to scratch and it had to be sent back and then explain to Customs that you've already paid the VAT etc. once, when and if you get a replacement...sod that.
