Thought I'd share this video I found of an Albion sword being produced. They make it look sooo easy too (I wish)

Yep looks easy to make... What Albion dont tell you is, its swords can cost anywhere from £300 to £2000 and that usually doesnt include a scabbard (up to £1000 each). So what makes a £2000 sword better than a £300 sword?

Interesting, I've watched [on tv]bladesmiths creating sword blades, takes days or weeks, and the end result is pretty damm good. Somehow I still can't see how a factory produced blade, even if hand finished can end up as or more expensive. From that video more than 60% of the work was a production run using machine tech to create a blade, no way that compares with a bladesmiths work over weeks. Certainly not in the £1000 to £2000 price range.
AFAIK in ye good old days a bladesmith was considered very highly and an almost magical person.. So which would be worth more a 9th century sweedish blade or one knocked out by a machine?
Even more recently a good blacksmith was worth more to the nobility than a fully kitted out man at arms
And if that blacksmith was a noted armourer.. he was worth even more.
That said, anyone know how one gets in contact with a armourer/bladesmith in the UK these days?
Regards,
