throwing a wakizashi

Post by Geordie Ross » Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:15 pm

I've seen it in a few movies now, they throw a wakizashi and it flies like a spear, was wondering if its really possible or not? I don't know many wakizashis that are top heavy?

movies,.....................sigh

I have seen a practitioner lose his katana on a nukitsuke (horizontal draw) that flew across the dojo in a straight line the entire length of the dojo. Although if he tried to do this again on purpose, I doubt he could.
So I guess you could draw your own conclusions from this.

Possible but impractical and unlikely to succeed?

Dot
i remeber you cautioning me of that very occurence
I suppose it might be like throwing a shiriken(sorry if spelt wrong) could be a distraction that gets you the upper hand, but then if unsuccessful you've lost a sword!!

I just got my wakizashi hanwei practical, boyfriend looked at it and complained it aint got one of them wavy lines like the others, the hamon is indeed very straight but it is there for all to see and very wide, he also moaned it was a bit plain same goes for him tbh.
