thanks.

the wooden parts are cocobolo mahogany, the actual hilt is made from antler shaped like an octagonal roman collum, the decorative knotwork bands are made of pure silver as is the tang nut and bolster plate.

kind regards

As my first post I thought I would compliment you on your sword.

The damascus pattern on the blade is stunning.

Very nice indeed.

Without a doubt, a wonderous piece. The satisfaction must be immense, given the level of detail in your specifications given to the smith and the quality he returned.

I would feel truely honoured to me slain by that weapon.

How did you go about arranging the order? Did the blacksmith take care of everything, including the handle, or did he subcontract various smiths for various components like the silver banding?

contacted the smith and took it from there, he made everything including making the molds and casting the silver into them for the bands and carving the antler for the grip etc.

as mentioned the silver knotwork idea was offered by the smith as the original idea to wrap the whole hilt in silver was impractical the bands and there position design etc was my idea and the commission evolved from then on.

kind regards
