Happy New year all

Post by Owner7771 » Sun Jan 01, 2012 9:13 pm

I decided for a laugh to do a resolution to set it as a knife to have in 2012 for My collection and my dessision was to say sometime in 2012 I will own a emmerson cqc now I know where to get them from but will take a while they arent cheap for even a mass produced one but will be worth it just to have a piece in my collection that sees current spec forces use. Whats everyone elses target knife or sword for their collection this year

Cheapies for me, Budo Musashi Tanto to keep my Budo Dragon Tanto and Cold Steel Tanto Lite company and possibly the Budo Whirlwind Ninja Sword.
At the moment I'm not sure I'll be able to afford even those cheapies.
I'll have about £25 credit at HH after sending back a faulty blade, so it'll be a Kershaw OD-2 or even a Magnum Duke Damascus for the first blade of the year.

I think My first purchase will be a tenacious but I also plan to get either a custom hunter or skinner to send to the states for a friend who is known for reviews on lots of things but mainly knives. Mind you I could always rely on a budgeting loan and buy everything together lol

Well, my first blade of the year arrived today. It's a Paul Chen and it only cost £9.95.
It's a Paul Chen Multi Tasker and it's probably the only Paul Chen that I'll be able to afford for a while. It's not a bad multitool - reduced from £24.95, in the clearance section of an online knife store.
A genuine Chen for less than a tenner I couldn't resist.

I was surprised at the high quality, but it is a Chen. It has a razor sharp 3" lock-knife with a thumb stud and a full flat grind, but it's built around a pair of shears.
Sorry blade master but I heard it calling from the clearance bin and a tenner is still a long way from a Chen sword, I'll start saving now, honestly I will. :D

I know now who My best friend is in life they said what would you dream of adding to your collection this year I said an emerson cqc7 at £170 yup gone a little over the cost but the friends response was ok for your birthday I will put £150 towards it so going to be an easy save on that one and only 3 months 2 days to wait :-) However My first knife purchase of 2012 was a leatherman style with free 13 lumen keyring torch (made in china for leatherman the torch that is) reduced from £20 to £15 in a local store. I did mainly buy it to compare the leatherman v the spyderco honeybee and think the honeybee is going to be the better one for the main blade with the leatherman being chisel ground

They are legal for police military and collectors however most local stores wont stock them. Yes £170 for an emerson but it will be a peice with military heritage (although new) as the 7 was designed for use with the seals and sbs emmerson has been designing all folding knives for UK and US special forces for the past 15years. I would have gone for a chris reave sebenza 21 but they make emersons look cheap with a 6-8 month wait for your knife and a $750 price tag so about £500

That's ludicrous! Much rather get a fairbairn Sykes for half the price and twice the quality + history. But then again I'm no fan of pen knifes or folders.
Ps i doubt the sbs use a folder as opening one under water would be difficult, I'm sure they use a boot knife but I'm no expert

The weird wave like protrusion from the back opens the knife as its pulled from the pocket and I know the history of the F/S but the emerson is a major centrepiece. The typical spec opps trooper would probably carry 4-5 knives one boot one something heavy bladed a folder and other types. Also its the materials the liners arent steel they are titanium with G10 scales. Beside this emerson knives also have a pedigree in both movies and novels. I had looked at a strider but they are £400 so the emerson is my best bet overall
The following vid shows the wave features effect ross

Ridiculous, wouldnt dare waste money on em, pathetically overpriced American rubbish lol for 400 you could buy a mid range kat or a top end discounted piece, much better value than a pocket knife that took 30 mins to stick together
