Custom Katana
Hi All
Im Customizing a 2nd hand PC Katana tha i bought off of a friend (Dont Worry i Know What im doing) and i was wondering where i could get some rare (REAL) parts from,
Im going to buy my tsuba from Blades UK but im also after a matching Kojiri (Scabbard Pommel) & Koiguchi (Scabbard Mouth) and some Black Tsuka-Ito (Binding Cord)
Can anyone point me in the right direction

Custon Katana
Thanks Friend
It Turns out that i won't need the black Tsuka-Ito, But its going to be a bit of a quest to find the other parts.
LET THE HUNT BEGIN!!!!
But i think it would be much easier if the UK chen supplier (Whoever they may be) Would sell replacement fittings/Spare parts, Then we could customize our chen katanas, And when we're all old men sell them for double what they were origanaly worth, or hand them down to friends or family and say you'll never find another katana like it.

Hope that cough (nuge nuge wink wink) gets better soon (might be hayfever)
I'll be more than happy to post some photos up when im done.
Thanks again

RE: Custom Katana
I now know how to bind the Sago cord around the saya (scabbard) properly.
All I need now is a PC Tiger Katana Saya, I know Blades UK sells the Practicle Pro Fantasy Katana Saya separately but can they get Tiger Katana Saya's in?
Also if i get the tiger Saya i won't need the Kojiri (scabbard Pommel) or the Koiguchi (Scabbard Mouth)
Then all i have to do is find someone one who can rebind my Tsuka (Hilt) in black leather Tsuka-Ito (Hilt Binding)

RE: Custom Katana
Don't worry if i could get hold of one i'd mod it, i got the tools to pull it off and i could do with the slightly longer saya.
RE: Custom Katana
Your right Solutech i've got ot allow for the curviture of the blade aswell as the lengh.
Maby i'll try and ge a replacement saya of the origional katana but i'd like to get hold of an old Kami (not a tiger, i made a mistake) katana saya to salvage for parts
I gotta put the new Tsuba that arrived from Blades UK This Morning on it tomorrow,
Dont have to punch it, Just file it a bit(i prefer fileing to punching)

Most PC blades have the same sori (curve) and so most PC saya will fit. You may have a slight difference in blade thickness, but if you have a quality blade like the tiger, then a saya from another quality blade, should fit ok.
I changed my nami saya for a PK saya, and i've had to pack out the koiguchi a little to get nice saya biki when drawing.
Good luck

getting a saya will be wonderfully hard to do..... make one.
you SAID it was a custom katana, so MAKE it a custom katana.... if your gonna do it, do it properly.... make it, learn it, do it.
and this should help.....
>LINKS TO BLADE RETAILERS<
and then use any design you like, on it. make it your own.
maybe, after that, you could build a tsuka to fit a unmounted blade, and shop for a few REALLY custom parts.
you've got a blade you like, why not go all the way?
(although that site makes use of power tools, and equiptment you wont have access too, its just as easy to do with a pencil, some chisels, some sandpaper, and a bit of practice... the only hard bit is splitting it.... which only reqires a bandsaw... most engineering places will have one... and will do the job for a fiver)
