Wall plaque and belt

Post by Blackbird » Mon Apr 24, 2006 2:32 pm

Okay at Larns request here are pics The plaque used to be a mirror which Ied never got round to hanging up but I took a look at it and realised if I sanded all the crappy varnish off and turned it upside down so the point mirrored the point of the sword it would look quite good

The celtic design has been carved in then filled with a coloured beeswax polish to make it easier to see

This shows you where I'm going to put the pegs

I'm thinking of engraving some basic knotwork along the edge of the mirror to but I'll wait untill the woodworks out of the way first.

This is my first ever attempt at belt making I made the lot myself from cutting the straps to beating the crap out of a bit of copper fer the buckle and fittings. I admit I didnt make the ickle buckles for attaching the scabbard to the belt. The copper bits all still need polishing up and prettyfiying and the belt end and buckle plate both need a design on them.

Very nice BB.
The carving is exceptionally well done.
You should become a tattooist. ;)
