search google for.....

'tsukamaki'
'making saya'
and
'making tsuka'

ive litterally JUST checked those 3 searches, and all 3 generate the exact information you need. also, the information is contained in the very first sites mentioned. and all 3 are instructional and very well illustrated.

have fun.

Good For You!!

If you need any pointers just ask!!

The one thing to remember about custom swords is don't over-do them!

You do realise that these threads you're replying to are almost 5 years old and most of the members who posted in them are probably dead or suffering from senile demanture by now...do you? :D

i know this is an old thread but i have just joined.
i have just ordered a morpheus kat and mushashi tanto and thought i might have a go at making a new saya and tsuka for my old training ninja-to ( just an old stainless one for kata practice) maybe shirasaya as its just for display and wondered if anyone had any advice.
tsuka and saya are so battered that they are not worth repairing and sword isnt worth anything so its no loss if i bugger it up

A good wooden saya is very hard to make without the proper tools and time, I'd probably just bin it if it's not worth much, but you could just re-wrap it in leather
