DIY bokken

Post by Soruskiuk » Sun May 01, 2005 5:21 pm

Considering this is a katana weilding martial art practising sword buying site, i'm suprised theres nothing here about making wooden swords. anyway as you may know i have been making rubbishy bokkens for a long time ^^ anyway instead of directing a project for others, i felt this may be the right forum to ask for advice. ok... any advice? (bearing in mind my resources are limited... I could cut any size bokken from more or less any tree native to britain, with a saw, other than that, maybe i have a whitteling knife and... a block of wood with some sandpaper glued to it? ^^

A waster is a Euro style practice sword, but bokken dont sound to hard to make .

a friend of mine made a bokken out of ash, I think and gave it to me to wrap the "hilt".

I still have it!!! :D hehehe

too dangerous to use as he made it quite slim and would probably do more damage than a standard shaped bokken on a body.

extremely light too!!!! you could swing it all day long!!
