Custom Practical Plus Tanto

Post by malvern man » Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:31 pm

Hi all,

just in case you were wondering, yes I'm still around.

Well here it is at long last, my custom PPT.

I hope you like what has been done to it.

Cheers, Chris.

Hi there blade master,

I'm pleased you like my PPT, I didn't do it myself though, I sent it away to be done. It might have to go back though as the lacquer hasn't hardened properly and is still quite soft and is beginning to mark

Regards, Chris.

Hi Mick,

the guy that did it thinks that he had some duff lacquer. He's not going to be using it again, he's changing over to cashew lacquer. There's no problem with him sorting the saya out, he only lives an hour away from me so I can take it straight to him. I've got to go and see him soon anyway as I'm having the tsuka on my Musashi Miyamoto Daito 'battle wrapped' as soon as I've sorted out some new menuki for it.

The tanto saya does look stunning though, it's done in full nashiji lacquer.

The custom work I had done is,

full suite of horn fittings
full nashiji lacquer
dark brown tsuka ito
golden brown sageo (which I've removed for the moment)
fuchi/kashira in blackened steel - waves pattern
24k gold small water dragon menuki
the original rayskin (same) has been changed to some of a better quality.

Regards, Chris.
