The scabbard has a hardwood core and lined with cotton to reduce moisture build up. The covering is some old red ( looks pink in the picture) weights bench covering I had left over and is hand stitched at the back. I am currently making another scabbard for one of the swords above, again hardwood core (using poplar this time) and covering it in brown faux leather.

I will finish my current scabbard and post the result on here. As mentioned before, the one shown is a mock up, the one Im working on will have proper risers, chapes and all the other furniture expected.

Hardwood core, antique brown leather wrap, cotton liner, leather harness, leather chape. I have a bronze chape on order but they are difficult to source at the minute. There is a scabbard on the way for a Norman sword, it will have a completely different belt suspension system. Will post it here.

Finally the Norman sword

Image

This shows the harness as free hanging type which means it is not part of the scabbard and can be removed for right or left handed.

A view of the stitching and fit

Both scabbards together
