YET EVEN MORE

Postby the blade master » Fri Oct 26, 2012 12:28 pm

well guys treated myself again to a very nice gill hibben old west bowie the polished version
and a cracking damascus long knife decent leather sheath for a change a very tastey rosewood
handle and for its size very light indeed must be due to the hollow grind.
the hibben old west is done to a very high standard a high polish on the blade so its just like a metal
mirror dont know what sort of hardwood the handle is nice finish on it tho the brass work is gold plated
but if you get one dont polish it with anything more than a yellow duster if you do use a polish it will
take of the gold coating in very short order as the plating isnt on the generous side just enough to
make it look good

old west is 20.50 ins
the long knife is 17.50 ins

well guys heres two of the three items i got today the hunter has a 6 inch damacus blade and belive
it or not it dose have a real decent sawback if you want to call it that and as nicley finished as any
ive ever seen on any knife, with wood and brass inserts in the handle the main bulky part of the
handle seems to be some sort of semi precious mineral pinky brown in colour i say mineral because its not
bone or horn feels and looks more like marble and no its not plastic either lols with aluminium butcap and
finger guard and a deceant quality leather sheath too

Image

the smaller one is the bucks skinner nice 3.50 inch damascus blade
and a very well done handle made from some indian hardwood
and yet again a real decent leather sheath

third was the yakamashi katana but i,ll do pics later

two more of three

ok guys two more kats turned up this morning and real beautys too
the first is a tachi katana very nicely finished from top to toe the
blade is very well done folded steel blade with a very nice pattern
with some real good fittings based on the sakura or cherry blossom theme
that are well finished on katana and saya
you,ll need to wear gloves handling it because of the white ito if your
mainly useing it as a display piece lovely maroon finished saya

seconed is also a folded steel blade saya is also maroon the tsuba
is solid matt black with the highlights picked out in gold and as with
the tachi the blade has a folded pattern thats first rate the menuku
are the standard gold metal type thats a most katanas one interesting
point the cleaning kit has two spare mekugi included which is handy
(oh yes the ito on the saya of the tachi must be over 2cm wide and
under the ito is a engraved collar that extends from the koiguchi some
8 inches down the saya but is mostly hidden by the saya,s ito i can really
recommend these kats to all here well worth the money for sure
mick

the saga continues
today i recieved two of buks finest another folded katana with a folded pattern thats one of the
best ive ever seen and a saya thats the best ive ever had a beautyfull metallic gold thats much darker
than the pic at buks aa real deep gold colour and as with the others ive reasently got the best ito ever
the thick heavy type the menuki im not sure of some sort of dog or wolf maybe a cat of some sort
the added bonus is the tsuka has a traditional battle wrap( our brother in arms moon will give the proper name)
the blades sharp as sh** too so mind your fingers guys now i cant recomend this one enough guys so get one while
the gettings good there is only a finite supply in stock theres no bo hi and the kissaki is longer than normal as is the norm
from this manufacturer all the fittings are first rate this sword is a real supprise concidering the price range dont hang
around guys as ive said there aint many left.

the long knife/short sword
the tb4 is just as good as the one i got recently as cracking damascus blade has a real nice pattern to it
each side of the blade is hollow ground leaving a wicked cutting edge and the sharpest point ever the brass
work is the finest quality and concidering where and how there made is saying somthing the wood handle is i belive indian
rosewood with a real smooth finish handle components are brass and red fibre spacers a brass but cap and at the fore end just under the
hand cross guard is a buffalo horn spacer and to finish it of is a real leather sheath done with a decent machine stich
dont know how many are left i dont think it will be to long before there all gone
