Koto Tsuba

I picked up a Koto Tsuba tonight, which is taken from a mould of the Kami tsuba as you can see. I'd say these are intended for display only as they're way too heavy to go on a katana. The blade hole is really small and upside down too. Will look ok nailed on the wall though I guess. Shame really as I wanted this to go on my MM.

its a good 3mm thicker than a standard tsuaba around the hole, and around 6mm bigger overall due to the raised characters. Being upside down would really look pretty daft too. Pretty sure its just for display.

Maybe you could stick it on a tanto?

I like it even though it is just for display with those dimensions, it's not really upside down as the tsuba is what an opponent should see when faced in combat traditionally and Hanwei got it wrong on their 'Kami' and other katana but that's just me being pedantic, as usual.

oh cmon lw a dirty great tsuba like that on a delicate blade like a tanto look
at a real tanto I don't think you,ll see owt that size on a tanto (but I could be wrong)
ok lw ive measured mine heres what ive found
kat tsuba measure any where from 70 to 74mm
waks any where from 50 to 55mm
tanto,s any where from zero i.e. no tsuba to 45mm these measurements are on my kats/waks/tanto,s)
just saying anything katana size just don't look right on a tanto
cheers mick

larns hi
just wondering what was the length of the hole where the tang gose through
before you started enlarging the hole measured a spare I have is 28mm by 8mm
seems to be the standard size for most of my koto,s
just curious is all

So it would be unique if it fitted, I've seen tantos with and without them so I don't see why it would matter, whatever floats your boat and all that.
