First purchase - is it a defect?

Postby Xander563 » Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:23 pm

Hey,

I purchased the Anime katana -
http://www.blades-uk.com/large_pic.php?product_id=4279
53" Overall with a 36" sharpened, hand forged, high carbon steel blade with blackened finish. Faux rayskin handle wrap with black braid ito. Double pegged and full tang.

And I'm loving it so far. However, I've noticed two small holes in the handle where it looks like a piece of wood is showing. Is this normal?

(i would post [img] tags, but the images are huge. This forum doesn't thumbnail them)

*Edit*
Delete the topic. I just noticed in the picture that the sample one has the same little wooden pieces in the handle. Sorry

They're called Mekugi - a peg that secures the Tsuka (Hilt) to the tang.
Semper cogitatio.

I'd be more worried if it wasn't double pegged.
War does not determine who is right, only who is left.
