functional?

Postby langy » Tue Apr 16, 2013 6:35 pm

hi guys, ive got a few functional swords from here, mostly katana's... but im after something not japanese now..

i really like the look of the Barnett Lionheart Sword, and am wondering although its not under the functional section, is it functional? the "sharpened EN45 carbon steel blade" just made me wonder :)

thanks, tom

Yea its functional, any high carbon steel blade with a solid tang will be functional.

I will say one thing about the Barnett swords, they are on average half the price of the equivalent Hanwei, but they are roughly twice the weight.

Hi langy

I've done a few scabbards, here's a lionheart in brown with harness etc. Fairly straight forward to make. I recommend poplar wood and 1mm leather or similar. Like this one, line the inside in cotton, helps stop rattling and keeps the blade dry.
