First Time

Postby Arron321 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 1:04 pm

Hey guys, i have joined this forum because im very confused about the laws, whats legal/illegal etc.

The main question is " IS IT LEGAL TO PURCHASE A SAMURAI SWORD IN THE UK"
please note i AM 18

The laws say its illegal however there are a few ways to be able to purchase on. I have looked online for a simple answer but have found 0
the ones i have seen are on websites like this and Ebay are 40.7 length in blade and made from 1060 carbon steel for around £60-£70

1) is it legal to purchase a sword like this in the uk?
2) does the company have to be UK based?
3) will i be able to purchase them from Ebay (usa site) and have it shipped over as it doesnt sell them in Ebay uk site
thank you for any answers

You can buy traditionally hand made katanas in the UK without licence. Stainless steel crap is now illegal. Dont bother with trying to import from eBay, you'll just get your pants pulled down when HM Customs gets it. Buy from B-UK and you'll be fine.

Traditionally hand forged katanas with curved blades are exempt from the laws. Factory pressed stainless steel junk is banned if its blade is curved.

As larnz said, everything in this section is exempt from the laws.
