japanese water stones

Are these good for getting a burr out of a carbon steel blade. Available from alot of large art shops. Whats the deal y'all, to use a phrase, on the water stones? I can get them in 1000 and 6000 grain.

depends what you mean by a burr, if your talking about the wire edge that you can get, a strop is perfect for removing it and with a good compound you can give the edge a mirror finish and take it upto hair popping sharp as well

What method are you using to sharpen the blade?
