Which Japanese kabuto and mempo?

Postby Big Lazy » Sun Apr 20, 2014 2:22 pm

I think next on my wish list is a Japanese kabuto and mempo set as I feel that will really tie my collection together.

Ideally I'd like the Dragon Armour one but I believe that's universally sold out.

My question to my brethren then is which one do you prefer out of these three?

As always your opinions are most appreciated.

I'm leaning towards the first one but I'm yet to decide. Gotta few months of penny pinching to do first.

I've always prefered the first one - never liked the red one - looks like a prop from Flash Gordon & the 2nd one has a very weak appearance in my opinion :) (the antlers put me off I think)
Semper cogitatio.

must admit I do prefer the dragon armour one but if push came to shove
no 2 I think as its listed as doubling up as a display stand for a diasho set

I like all of them but prefer the top one for some reason.

if you look carefully at the antlers halfway up you will see two small prongs coming out from the
main stem and at the top the main stem of the antler splits into two so you can put the katana in
the top two notches and the wakasashi in the bottom two notches look heres a clearer pic its also
listed on some sites as a paul chen diasho kaki model no ah2081

heres a utube link as well

I dont fancy that idea one bit. I doubt it would be stable at all.

So far it seems the first one is the winner. What do you guys think of the dull black (supposedly aged) look?

I like the contrast in the finish of the kabuto and mempo personally - makes it look more traditional IMHO.

I wonder why they all have a grey moustache like mine.

Talking of face fluff, since I've been on the shelf these last few months I grew myself an awesome Jedi beard. Sadly after much protesting from my aunts I had to shave the bugger off
