Standing sword case?

Postby Trix » Thu Sep 18, 2014 8:42 pm

Hello everyone! Last year i purchased a sword from this site, it is from the popular MMO World of Warcraft, and called Frostmourne.

Here is a link to the sword itself

It's very large, comes up near my waist, and heavy, and gorgeous! I have to use two hands to raise it up :)

Anyway, i got it for display purposes and would LOVE to have it on display in my new flat i've just moved into.

I can't find anywhere that sells a suitable display case for it though. I don't want the sword laying down, i want it standing upright, preferably in a see through display case that can be securely locked.

That also brings me to the next problem, if it was standing inside a display case, i need something for it to stand on, as it has a sharp point, but can't think what would be suitable.

As i rent privately i cannot mount anything to the walls, or anything like that, otherwise i would use the piece that came with it.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

I've been looking for display cases for years, no where sells them. Only thing you can do really is find someone willing to make one for ya. Look for a local framing shop, they might be able to help.

Do you mean like a full glass box like this or just a wooden thing you can only see from one side?

if I was you I'd look up museum, military or art custom display cases and see for a place near to you as I am sure they'd need the sword to get the measurements right, depends how fancy you want it really.

I'm imagining a sword in the stobe affair in a seamless transparent case as a center piece in a room

Thank you for the suggestions.

I've decided to buy a standing display unit from ikea, simply because it's cheaper and easier to get hold of.

I'm going to buy this for £40

I will just remove the shelves. It can also have a light fitted to the top of the unit, which might make it look really nice at night time.

Now i just need to find something to stand the tip of the sword in and i might be good to go
