New to Iaido Advice

Postby jobbo2u » Fri Oct 17, 2014 11:18 pm

Hi. I wish to take up Iaido but there are no clubs within 30 miles of me therefore, I will need to self-teach for the time being. I understand a wood sword is best for practice but i have also seen you can get blunt katanas’ called Iaito katanas’ but, for some season you need to be with a registered club to get one. This seems strange when I can get a sharp blade without being registered. Can someone explain why this is?
Also I am a registered 3rd Dan in Judo and judo Scotland member and coach, would this be sufficient to register?
