Sharpening a stained blade

Postby Kieval » Tue Jul 28, 2015 3:58 am

Hello just a quick query

I own several blades all of them stainless carbon steel however i do have one where the whole blade is coloured red and it is now needing re-sharpened. I know how to sharpen a normal blade but how does one re-edge a coloured blade without scratching off the staining?

Sorry, but as far as I know you can't without removing the staining.
If you purchased the blade from Blades UK, maybe ring up and ask?

if your using the lansky system the only colouring you will remove is on the cutting edge
which cant be helped (mind you the same could be said of any other sharpening system
I'm afraid)
