I have the urge to customise the shaft of my bearded axe. Which do you think looks better? I have used the same studded style as from the Heros axe.

i like them both so i have not voted on the poll topic if you really want to customize the axe go ahead i think runes burned into the wood look good as would an acid reveal etch on the axe head, theres also metal inlay techniques for wood as well :-D

good luck with whatever you decide

im getting one of these axes myself 8)

What tools you need to burn things into the wood?

a blowtorch and an old kitchen knife with the end squared of to a thickish chisel tip (to heat and burn a nice longish straight line) and an isulated handle (rags wrapped round) and gloves and safty goggles etc

a coulpe of other old screwdrivers and nails etc to give you some more "brush" sizes if you see what i mean

regards

A soldering iron, it keeps itself hot so no need to keep heatting it up but fer detailed work go with hat Darksun said. I like the studded look btw.

Personally, I'd put a piece of black leather with silver studs...
