making a sword blade

i read somewhere that a sword blade can be made from1/4" sheet metal be4 i think about trying this i was wondering if there is any truth in this

What kind of metal? That's a tad vague, isn't it..

basic sheet metal i think but it was very vague

I think it depends on your definition of "sword". My mother refers to my bokken as "swords", there are stainless steel swords (Someone I read said they were essentially just big knives, given the material, which is a sentiment I share), and there are the forged/folded actual SWORD swords..

Spose you could make a sword out of any metal, if you're that loose with the definition, but whether it'll be worth the time and effort is debateable.
