Re: New Katanas
hi lawrence
that yakamashi you have there its the spitting image of one i got of you a couple
of years or so ago which resides on a very nice rack on my bedroom cabinate is
it made by the same manufacturer as the engraving on mine are different to the
new one on the site it has as you can see a dragon on one side of the new blade mine has
a inscription in kanji i belive on one side on the other a religeous symbal of a
fighting weapon used by the samurai if memory serves me right it was about
£188 plus at the time not sure if it was made by musashi or masahiro but it was one
of the better makers at the time

I rather like that fenghuang but the saya is a bit...touristic, the folded dragon katana looks nice too

Re: New Katanas
Yes Mick, all designs on the blade like the ones you posted are called horimono.the blade master wrote:ok moon here,s a couple of pics of the designs that have been acid etched on the blade i belive they used some sort of acid resistant
transfer method i.e. the acid ate into the metal where the resist wasnt present just a thought are both designs known as horimono?

Re: New Katanas
I actually quite like the Sucker Punch katana, cos I'm a bit of a sucker for the movie itself.

I fancy the tsuka on that, similar to the tori with the brown Ito and black same

Re: New Katanas
Its clearly not gonna be in the same league as a Chen kat, but if you class it as a wall hanger its possibly a very nice item indeed. Have I ever mentioned how much I loved that film?

Re: New Katanas
It seems better than a wall hanger but too nice to chop stuff up with, wish there was a close up of the engraving as its at a seriously tempting price
Ps I thought the movie was alright, not as good as the previews said but baby doll was mmmmmhmmm
