well blade is now ren wax polished, have to admit it looks alot better than having oil over it

also managed to get rid of the little dint to the tip, bought a sharpening stone and it worked a treat and when the all metal cleaner arrives i shall use that on the area which should make it look good

its hardly noticeable so it dont really need doing but its the age old thing, i know its there lol

Since you are now entering the world of Japanese swords, you should know there is a certain etiquette (reiho) to displaying a katana (proper way of display)
The katana should be displayed blade up, tsuka (hilt) to the left of the blade while displayed on a katana kake (sword stand) while still sheathed in saya (sword sheath).
There are certain exceptions, but the katana is never displayed blade down in any circumstance.
To display it improperly, only displays the owner's lack of knowledge of his katana.
Something you may want to rectify in your signature picture.

"Display the sword with the blade facing upward. It's traditional to do so in case of the soldier had to draw and strike quickly. Always keep your swords housed in their cases. Displaying raw blades is dangerous as Katana or Samurai swords are extremely sharp. The handle or Tsuka of the sword should be displayed on the right side of the stand if you are right handed. If the warrior is left handed then the sword is displayed with the handle to the left."

well at least your half right

I'd only show a sword that level of respect if it is a "proper" pedigree katana, I don't really think production swords deserve that honour, makes a mockery of the real McCoy.

hence my comment about it being hand forged in china

if it was a genuine katana from japan then it would be a different story altogether so i agree with you 100% geordie
