Spammed to buggery

Post by Big Lazy » Fri Oct 18, 2013 9:50 am

Looks like it was a busy night for the kitchen and interior design spam bots last night. I've just spent the last 20 mins cleaning up after them lol :GG

Most spam bots crawl through botnets & infected PC's these days - source IP is nearly always different - had 14 bot accounts register on another forum i manage this morning, every one was from an IP id not blocked (and ive blocked thousands), blocking an IP does little to no good :(

I wouldn't mind but the forums i manage all use Googles ReCaptcha AND email verification in the registration process and i STILL get a dozen per day - MOST annoying - no easy answers.

Back in the day when I was an Admin' here and this forum was buzzing, 17 other regular members had posted with the same IP as mine - I believe it was known as a 'dynamic IP'. :S
