Shame, videos no longer found. I've been looking for something online to show original sword making techniques, but the ones I've found tend to use modern equipment.
I know they did this on Time Team once, but that was an Anglo-Saxon sword, not Viking, anyway.

You'll find that the techniques are very similar between vikings and Anglo Saxon techniques, they both used pattern welding and the tangs are very similar.
